Changing a Generation of Men, One Community at a Time

DID YOU KNOW that most young men smile to keep from crying? We can get a better understanding of ‘them’ when we hear their side of the story. Unfortunately, some don’t get a chance to live to share their side of the story. We have future inventors, scientists, judges, educators, politicians, pilots, engineers, musicians, police officers, entrepreneurs, activists, husbands and fathers BUT we must encourage and motivate them to believe it could happen.  TAKE A LOOK IF YOU WANT TO SEE A NEW WAY FOR THE YOUNG MEN

Healing Justice

What Justice System do we need for the "Beloved Community" which Rep. John Lewis and Dr. Martin Luther King and many of us seek? An important model is "Restorative Justice." The film, Healing Justice, shows how restorative justice is being used as an alternative to the criminal punishment system. I invite you and your friends and family from Metro Atlanta to join us at 7 pm on Monday, August 24, for a virtual showing and discussion of this film.

The film, produced by World Trust (https://www.world-trust.org/), “...explores the causes and consequences of the current North American justice system and its effect on marginalized communities. The film walks back through the history of violence that has led to our current system, bringing into focus the histories of trauma – on a personal, interpersonal, community, and generational level. This powerful documentary addresses the school-to-prison pipeline, the need for comprehensive criminal justice reform, and the importance of healing and restorative practices..."

Restorative Justice Advocates of Georgia

RJAG was formed by a group of individuals with one common idea–social justice instead of retribution.  Recognizing the failure of the criminal legal system to administer equal justice, the group organized around known historical successes of other states that have developed policies, programs and practices and adopted laws that shift emphasis from merely punishing offenders to addressing the harm done to people and relationships as a way of building community and resolving conflict.
